The club journal · Page one
Less “one day”. More “remember when?”
A club for people enjoying early retirement who’d like to tick off the list in good company. Start close to home, then go further: Polish lakes and old towns, warm seas, and perhaps a skydive.
Free to join. Come on your own or bring a friend.
Boat day. Chessboard packed.
The best souvenir? Someone who was there with you.
The first jump. The unexpected view. The dinner nobody wants to end. Experiences are better shared, especially with people who have the time to enjoy them properly.
We’re bringing those people together, starting with a friendly hello close to home and building up to trips worth writing home about.
The wish list
What would you love to do?
Tap anything that makes you smile. Your list comes with you to the sign-up form, and helps us plan the first outings.
Labels show the pace: easy-going, up for it, or big thrill. Every real outing comes with a plain description of what it involves.
A closer look · Poland
A city to discover. A countryside to settle into.
Poland is a favourite of ours, and it’s a short flight from many UK airports. Two trip ideas to start the conversation:
Idea one
Kraków and the mountains
Kraków’s old town and food markets, a gentle raft through the Dunajec Gorge, and a few days of mountain air in the Tatra foothills.
Idea two
Gdańsk and the lakes
Gdańsk’s waterfront and amber shops, then sailing and swimming on the Masurian lakes. The chessboard comes too.
Trip ideas, not bookable itineraries. Routes, dates, prices and providers would be confirmed before anything goes on sale.
The picture at the heart of the club
A chessboard. A boat. A swim between moves. Some days don’t need improving.
It’s the spirit of every outing: a little daring, very sociable, and at your own pace.
Portrait of [First name]
A natural photo: daylight, a real smile, looking at the camera. Outdoors or at home, not a studio headshot.
Your host
Every trip starts with a hello from [First name].
[First name] is starting the club to bring people together for the kind of days you remember. You’ll meet her before any trip, and she’ll tell you exactly what it involves and what it costs.
[A line about why she loves travelling in company, and her connection to Poland]
A 60-second welcome from [First name]
To record: phone video, captions on, with a written version underneath for anyone who prefers to read.
How it works
Meet first. Travel together.
Nobody should board a plane with strangers. Get to know people over lunch or an online coffee first, then decide what you’d like to do together.
Say hello
Join the founding circle with the short form below. [First name] replies to every new member personally.
Meet the group
Come to a relaxed first get-together near you, or an online coffee if you’re further away. No speeches, no name badges.
Shape what’s next
Vote on the get-togethers, days out and trips you’d like, then join the ones that suit you.
Members choose where we go.
Regular votes decide the next outings and trips. [First name] checks dates, prices, safety and suppliers, then shares the results with everyone.
Your say, a preview
What should the first big trip be?
In the club, votes run each month and everyone sees the results.
Choose your pace
Every day out is labelled, so you always know what you’re saying yes to.
Long lunches, gentle city walks, gallery mornings, chess afternoons, and boat days where the swim is entirely optional.
Countryside walks, cycling on quiet trails, kayaking, sailing, and snorkelling from a boat for confident swimmers.
The once-in-a-lifetime list: a tandem skydive, a balloon flight, a zip line over a gorge. Never compulsory, always optional.
Every activity comes with a plain-English description of what it involves: distance, terrain, steps, swimming, and any limits the operator sets. For example, UK tandem skydive centres typically set a maximum weight of around 15 to 16 stone and ask for a medical declaration. You choose what suits you. If you’d like to talk anything through, or need something arranged differently, [First name] will tell you honestly what’s possible.

Questions
Before you pack.
Who is the club for?
People who’ve stepped back from full-time work, or are about to, and want good company and a fuller diary. Most of us will be somewhere in our 50s and early 60s, but it’s your outlook that counts.
Do I need to know anyone?
Not at all. Most people will arrive on their own or as a couple. [First name] will introduce you, and first get-togethers are kept small so it’s easy to talk.
How fit do I need to be?
That depends entirely on what you choose. Everything is labelled easy-going, up for it or big thrill, with a plain description of what it involves. If you have a question about a specific activity, or need something arranged differently, message [First name] and she’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.
What does it cost?
Joining the founding circle is free. Membership pricing will be shared with the founding circle before anyone is asked to pay. Trips and activities are priced separately, in full, before you book.
How do the votes work?
Members vote on ideas for get-togethers, days out and trips. [First name] then checks dates, prices, safety and suppliers, and shares the result with everyone, including anything that isn’t possible and why. A vote is a preference, not a booking.
Can I come on my own?
Yes. Solo members are very welcome, and when we plan trips the price for a single room will always be shown clearly.
Why Poland?
Because it has a bit of everything: beautiful old cities, lakes and forests, mountains, good food and a warm welcome. It’s close to our hearts, too. [Add a line about your own connection to Poland] Other destinations will come from member votes.
Is this a travel company?
No, and we won’t pretend to be. When a trip is on offer, you’ll be told exactly who provides each part and how your money is protected, before you pay anything.
What happens after I sign up?
[First name] emails you personally within two working days, invites you to a first get-together or an online coffee, and sends you the first vote.
