Concept draft for review · Not open to members yet

A club for early retirement, built with its members

Friends first. Adventures follow.

Meet people nearby, catch up online, and vote on what we do next, from long lunches to lake days in Poland. Whoever you were at work, here you’re just you.

Free to join. No commitment. Come on your own or bring a friend.

All walks of life

Whoever you were at work, here you’re just you.

We’re hoping to bring together people from every background. What we’ll have in common is a bit more time, a bit of curiosity, and a taste for good company.

  • Nurses
  • Engineers
  • Teachers
  • Shopkeepers
  • Lorry drivers
  • Accountants
  • Carers
  • Chefs
  • Police officers
  • Hairdressers
  • Civil servants
  • Farmers
  • Bankers
  • Builders
  • Artists
  • Parents who ran the whole show

The kinds of working lives we expect around the table. Not a list of members.

The founding circle

The first members shape everything.

We’re starting small on purpose. The first [number, for example 100] members form the founding circle, and help decide the first get-togethers, the first trip, and how the club runs.

You vote

On get-togethers, days out and trips. Short, simple votes you can answer on your phone.

[First name] makes it happen

She checks dates, prices, safety and the people we book with, then turns the winning ideas into real plans.

Everyone sees the result

Results are shared openly, including anything that isn’t possible, and why.

How members decide

Try this month’s vote.

A taste of how it works. In the club, votes run each month and everyone sees the results.

A vote is a preference, not a booking. You only ever sign up for the things you want to do.

This month’s vote, a preview

Where should our first get-together be?

Pick one

In the club, votes run each month and everyone sees the results.

The rhythm of the club

Something to look forward to, all year round.

Every month

A get-together near you, and an online coffee. Easy to fit around family and everything else.

A few times a year

Days out and weekends away: walks, boat days, city visits and the odd surprise.

Once or twice a year

A bigger trip, chosen by members. Poland first, with its cities, lakes and mountains, then wherever the votes take us.

The idea at the heart of the club

Chess on a boat. A swim between moves. Friends waiting when you climb back in.

A letter from your host

Why I’m starting this club.

Hello, I’m [First name]. I’m a family person at heart, and I’ve always believed the best days are the shared ones.

[Your story in two or three lines: what you did before, what changed, and why this matters to you]

I’m building the club I’d want to join: friendly, a little bit adventurous, and honest about everything. A place where people from all walks of life can meet, make plans and look out for each other.

I’ll be at every first get-together, I’ll answer your messages myself, and I’ll always tell you exactly what something costs and what it involves before you say yes. Come and say hello. There’s a seat saved for you.

[First name]

Choose your pace

Every day out is labelled, so you always know what you’re saying yes to.

Easy-going

Long lunches, gentle city walks, gallery mornings, chess afternoons, and boat days where the swim is entirely optional.

Up for it

Countryside walks, cycling on quiet trails, kayaking, sailing, and snorkelling from a boat for confident swimmers.

Big thrill

The once-in-a-lifetime list: a tandem skydive, a balloon flight, a zip line over a gorge. Never compulsory, always optional.

Every activity comes with a plain-English description of what it involves: distance, terrain, steps, swimming, and any limits the operator sets. For example, UK tandem skydive centres typically set a maximum weight of around 15 to 16 stone and ask for a medical declaration. You choose what suits you. If you’d like to talk anything through, or need something arranged differently, [First name] will tell you honestly what’s possible.

Better together

Know someone who’d love this?

Plenty of good friendships start with “I’m going, why don’t you come too?” Send them the page, or bring them along to a first get-together.

The founding circle

Take your seat in the founding circle.

Help shape the club from the very first get-together. It’s free to join, and there’s no commitment.

What you get

  • Invitations to the first get-togethers, before anything is public
  • A vote on the first big trip
  • First to hear when membership opens, with the full price and what’s included

What happens next

[First name] emails you personally within two working days, then invites you to a relaxed first get-together near you, or an online coffee if you’re further away.

Membership pricing isn’t set yet. You’ll see it in full, with what’s included, before you’re asked for anything.

Join the founding circle

Free, and no commitment. It takes about a minute.

We’ll use your details to reply to you and to plan the first get-togethers. [Link to privacy notice]

Questions

Ask us anything.

Who is the club for?

People who’ve stepped back from full-time work, or are about to, and want good company and a fuller diary. Most of us will be somewhere in our 50s and early 60s, but it’s your outlook that counts.

Do I need to know anyone?

Not at all. Most people will arrive on their own or as a couple. [First name] will introduce you, and first get-togethers are kept small so it’s easy to talk.

How fit do I need to be?

That depends entirely on what you choose. Everything is labelled easy-going, up for it or big thrill, with a plain description of what it involves. If you have a question about a specific activity, or need something arranged differently, message [First name] and she’ll tell you honestly what’s possible.

What does it cost?

Joining the founding circle is free. Membership pricing will be shared with the founding circle before anyone is asked to pay. Trips and activities are priced separately, in full, before you book.

How do the votes work?

Members vote on ideas for get-togethers, days out and trips. [First name] then checks dates, prices, safety and suppliers, and shares the result with everyone, including anything that isn’t possible and why. A vote is a preference, not a booking.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Solo members are very welcome, and when we plan trips the price for a single room will always be shown clearly.

Why Poland?

Because it has a bit of everything: beautiful old cities, lakes and forests, mountains, good food and a warm welcome. It’s close to our hearts, too. [Add a line about your own connection to Poland] Other destinations will come from member votes.

Is this a travel company?

No, and we won’t pretend to be. When a trip is on offer, you’ll be told exactly who provides each part and how your money is protected, before you pay anything.

What happens after I sign up?

[First name] emails you personally within two working days, invites you to a first get-together or an online coffee, and sends you the first vote.

Not Dead YetClub

Good company for your adventurous years.
